Vision Statement

McLaurin Heights Baptist Church is a multigenerational community church right in the heart of Pearl, MS. We are prayerfully seeking God’s direction to find our next Worship Pastor. This full-time position serves as the primary leader of the church's worship ministry. This role combines pastoral heart with musical excellence to guide the church in Christ-centered worship services, encouraging and equipping attendees to Seek God, Serve Others, and Share Jesus. The position will include an additional ministerial role to be determined through the search process and based upon the candidate’s gifts and passions.

Responsibilities

Plan and lead weekly worship services with intentional focus on music selection that aligns with sermons, church vision, and church calendar
Develop worship experiences that engage diverse age groups and musical preferences while maintaining biblical foundation
Collaborate closely with pastoral staff in comprehensive worship service planning and special church events
Recruit, train, and mentor worship team members including vocalists, instrumentalists, and technical volunteers
Provide spiritual and musical leadership to worship team members including vocalists, instrumentalists, and technical volunteers
Conduct regular practices and provide ongoing musical development for team members
Foster a culture of excellence, spiritual growth, and unity within the worship ministry team
Supervise tech team volunteers to ensure technical excellence in worship services
Manage worship ministry budget and coordinate equipment needs and maintenance
Maintain music library, licensing, and copyright compliance
Coordinate scheduling for all worship ministry activities and personnel
Provide pastoral care and spiritual guidance to worship ministry volunteers and their families
Facilitate spiritual growth opportunities within the worship team through prayer, Bible study, and mentorship
Collaborate with ministerial staff in creative ways to train and encourage members to actively engage in evangelism, discipleship, and missions
Participate in weekly staff meetings, any special staff meeting, and regular staff retreats.
This position will include an associate role to oversee one additional area of ministry in the church, to be determined by the passions and gifts of the candidate. This could include but is not restricted to discipleship, groups, children’s ministry, senior adult ministry, etc.

Qualifications

Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a lifestyle consistent with the biblical requirements for leaders (1 Tim. 3; 2 Tim. 2; Titus 1:5-9)
Strong biblical knowledge and theology of worship
Commitment to the church's mission, vision, and statement of faith
Understanding and agreement with Baptist Faith & Message
A calling to pastoral ministry
Bachelor's degree in Music, Worship, or related field preferred
Experience in worship ministry leadership
Demonstrated musical proficiency
Strong leadership and team management abilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Familiar with worship planning software and music licensing
Basic understanding and demonstrated leadership in sound and worship technology
Flexibility to adapt worship while maintaining theological integrity
Heart for mentoring and developing emerging worship leaders
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Willingness to learn and grow in all areas listed above
