Music has always played, and continues to play, a major role in the life, health, education, worship, and overall ministry of McLaurin Heights.  We offer a balanced style in this ministry, so, no matter what your musical tastes are you will feel at home when you worship with us.

 

We have a fully graded preschool and children’s choir program. We have a student choir for grades 7 through college and choirs for adults and the FAB crowd (Fifty-five And Better). We have handbells and an instrumental ministry.  We also, from time to time, use a praise team to assist in leading congregational worship.

 

It is our deepest prayer that all the music at McLaurin Heights bears witness to the saving power of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

“Voices of Praise”

Adult Choir

 

“Voices of Praise,” our sanctuary choir, ministers through music every Sunday morning.  The choir does several major projects each year.  “Voices of Praise has performed, through the years, with several Christian performers, arrangers, and composers, such as:

 

Phil Cross, Charles Billingsly, This Hope, Jack Price, Benjamin Harlan, Bill Herman, and Lew King.

 

 

 

“Victory”

Student Choir

 

 

This choir is for all students, 7^th grade through college age.  “Victory” sings periodically for our Sunday evening worship services. The choir also sings occasionally with the sanctuary choir on Sunday mornings. “Victory” has presented Christmas and spring musicals.

 

 

“Prime Time”

Choir for adults fifty-five, and better

 

Some banks offer a “Prime of Life” checking account.   MHBC offers a choir for “experienced adults, who happen to be fifty-five, and better!  This group combines fellowship and music together for an inspiringly good time.

 

 

Instrumental Ensemble

 

 

This group has been re-vitalized and re-organized. They are growing numerically as well as musically.  The ensemble plays nearly every Sunday morning.  If you are looking for a place to serve the Lord with your band and/or orchestral experience and musical talent, this is the group for you. Come, and join, even if it has been a while.  You can get your lip back in shape before you know it.  We even have some “loaner’ instruments in our inventory.

 

 

 

 

“Voices in Bronze”

Handbell Choir

 

 

We have recently added a fifth octave to our bell set!  Our bell program gives our music/rhythm readers the chance to work together to render a unique praise offering to the Lord.

 

Preschool and Children’s Graded Choir Program

 

We have music time for preschoolers who are 3, 4, and 5 years old.  They have fun while they are doing activities that teach about music and the Gospel.  They learn about singing and giving thanks and praise to God. 

 

Our Children’s Choirs Meet and rehearse during the school year.  They usually work on a musical each semester.  They learn about the Lord, as well as the fundamentals of musicianship.

“New Heights”

Men’s Group

 

This group does a mix of musical styles that range from contemporary Christian to good old southern gospel.

 

 

Praise Team

 

Praise Teams are formed and used on as needed basis at MHBC.  These groups will be used more in the near future.

 

 

Drama Ministry

 

Our drama ministry is active and does a wonderful job.  They do at least one major project each year.  This is another opportunity for people to use their acting abilities in the Lord’s service.
